February 12th
On this trip to Japan, Carl took Sean Kelly, Bob Mahler and Karen Pattist. We have Karen to thank for all the beautiful non-fish pictures on this trip!

When traveling West, you leave on one day and arrive on the next. We left on Tuesday at 11:45 am and arrived in Narita after the 14 hour airplane ride from New York. An hour and a half later after customs and a ride on the Narita Express, we were rewarded with a trip through the Tokyo train station.

We had a minute to snap a pic of one of the sweet shops— but no time to stop

The Shinkensen bullet train that we had tickets for was just arriving at the platform. You can set your watch by the departure and arrival times. The train travels up to 300 kph, and is absolutely silent. We had a nice nap on the train and nearly missed the Urasa station in Niigata.

We were met by Mr. Hoshino of Koda Koi Farm, and went to dinner. Carl and Mr. Hoshino discussed the week's schedule.
