Day 4, Tues, Oct 15
Day four starts with a buying trip to Kiyoshi Kase owner of Koshiji Koi Farm. Kase developed the now famous Kikokuryu a few years ago. A kikokuryu is a metallic Kumonryu. I have been buying koi from Kase for five years now and each year his koi keep getting better. His koi have excellent skin quality and vibrant color.
This is also the second year for the Ginga, a new breed he has started. The Ginga was developed by crossing a Hajiro with Platinum. The result is a brilliant metallic koi with wild black and white patterns.
Then you add a few more twists like red color and ginrin and the possibilities are endless. Below are some of the koi we purchased at Kase. |

Here are 6 examples of two-year-old Ginga (white and black scaled metallic Hagar)

This spectacular Kikokuryu is going to be auctioned at the 2nd annual Shinkokai auction this Thursday run by the Niigata breeders in Ojiya. I suspect the price will be 500,000 yen (about $4000.00) or higher. |
| After going back to Kodas shop and getting the koi from Kase settled there was enough time for a short trip to Miyatora. Miyatora, although famous for Kujaku, always has a large variety of koi available at reasonable prices. |
