Day 19, Tuesday October 30
I spent yesterday doing paperwork and making final decisions on fish that I'd been studying at Koda's for the last three weeks. I had to make tough decisions, as I had grown quite fond of many of the koi at Koda during the three weeks I had been using his facilities as my home base.

The morning that I was leaving, we had a freak snowstorm with 10cm of snow.

Life goes on: here they are loading the truck to deliver koi to a large breeder in southern Japan.

Lucky says goodbye from the safety of the warm, dry house (smart dog!).

It's time for me to start the long journey home. Here's my ride: the bullet train. The Shinkensen travels at 200 KPH (120 MPH) on its way to Tokyo, bringing me to the airport to catch my flight home.

This marks the end to my longest stay in Japan. After 3 weeks I was just getting the hang of driving on the "wrong" side of the road. It took me 2 weeks to learn not to turn on the windshield wipers every time I wanted to turn! Once I get home, it will take me a while to retrain my brain back to the American way.
