Day 14, Friday October 25
Friday morning, we stopped at a different one of the hairpin turns. We were going through the dense fog for about half our trip up. (Travel tip: Pea-soup fog and hairpin turns are not a good combination!) You can see about 4 turns in this photo alone.

Fog sure looks better when you're looking down on it rather than trying to look through it!

A view from the other side of the mountain showing the mudponds.

After a short visit with Koda, we stopped at Izumia Koi Farm and found an absolutely insane maruten budo goromo. Can't wait to get this one back to Pennsylvania.

After buying the beautiful fish, we traveled to the other side of the valley to the Mushigame region.

We visited Iwashita. Here's a small sample of the many koi we bought. He's known for his ginrin asagi. In this photo you'll see a ginrin asagi, a kumonryu, a rare ginrin shusui, and a ginrin chagoi.

Boxing up the fish.

Having the customary tea after the sale is complete with Iwashita.

We went next door to and bought an absolutely gorgeous tancho kohaku from Maruju Tanaka Koi Farm.

Shigeyoshi Tanaka had an unusual business card, with the shape of the koi cut out.

We went out to dinner with Hosakai and Bob Gan, a koi dealer from Kuala Lumpur.
